DEAR DEIDRE: I FEEL my life is over since my daughter decided to move away.
I’m 78 and divorced. Since I left my cheating husband ten years ago, all that’s kept me going are my two grandchildren.
They are my world. One is eight and the eldest is ten.
We’re very close because I have helped my daughter raise them over the years.
She is a single parent so would have struggled with work and childcare without me. I’ve been their rock.
But everything changed 18 months ago when my daughter met a man.

They are buying a house together but it’s miles away.
Without my grandkids I can’t see how I’ll fill my days. I feel depressed.
DEIDRE SAYS: You can maintain this close bond by using video calls and planning visits so that you have something to look forward to.
It’s a big change for you all but you will adapt.
Maybe this is a chance to make time for friends as well as family.
