Inside Kate Middleton’s hen do where she dressed up in a bodysuit impersonating Cheryl

As the future queen, with a wardrobe of stunning gowns and enviable jewellery, Kate Middleton is the epitome of elegance and grace. But despite her role as a senior member of the Royal Family, that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been known to let her hair down on the odd occasion.

Much like the rest of us, the Duchess of Cambridge used her hen do back in 2011 as a time to celebrate her final few days as a single woman before marrying Prince William.

From celebrity impersonations to exclusive guest lists, here’s everything that happened at Kate’s hen party.

The idea of the 40 year old dressing up in fancy dress and performing a song and dance routine may sound like a fabrication, but according to Cheryl Cole, that’s exactly what happened.

Writing in her autobiography, the popstar recalled a slightly unusual encounter she had with Prince William and Kate while attending the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012.

Prince William allegedly told Cheryl: “Did you know you’ve got a bit of competition?”

Much to Cheryl’s confusion, Kate is said to have explained that while on her hen do, she dressed up as the star before performing one of her hit songs.

“Kate confessed that she dressed up as me on her hen night, in a bodysuit and split trousers, and sang Fight For This Love,” Cheryl wrote.

“She even learnt the dance routine and was step-perfect by all accounts, as her sister Pippa and brother James also came over and told me all about it.”

Kate’s younger sister, and maid of honour, Pippa is believed to have organised the gathering. Given that their mother, Carole Middleton, is the owner of party planning business Party Pieces, we can only imagine the bash was a night to remember.

According to The Telegraph, the private celebration was held at a friend’s home.

Speaking at the time, a source described the exclusive affair: “She has already had her hen night, but it was certainly very low-key. There isn’t such a tradition attached to hen nights as there is to stag parties.

“It was done privately. Not all of Kate’s friends were there, and she will be catching up with other friends over the coming weeks.”

After being thrust into the spotlight, Kate has always kept to a small circle of loyal friends, including those she attended school and university with.

As reported in the Daily Mail, the small guestlist included Marlborough School classmate Alicia Fox-Pitt as well as Olivia Beasdale, a friend from St Andrews who shared a flat with the duchess.

Richard Branson’s daughter Holly Branson and Hugh Van Custom’s wife, Rose Astor, are also believed to have attended.

Prince William enjoyed a similarly low-key stag party, organised by Prince Harry and nightclub owner Guy Pelly.
