The Princess of Wales revealed Prince Louis was ‘very upset’ to miss Wimbledon yesterday because he had been ‘practicing being a ballboy’.
Kate Middleton, 41, was joined by Prince William, 41, and her eldest children Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, eight at the All England Club for the men’s final on Sunday.
Both George and his younger sister appeared wowed by the action, punching the air in delight to celebrate Carlos Alcaraz’s maiden Wimbledon title in the nail-biting five-set epic against Novak Djokovic.
But Louis, the youngest member of the family aged five, was unhappy that he couldn’t join them despite practising being a ballboy this year.
Arriving at SW19 with her husband and two children, the Princess of Wales told Ella Ottaway, who runs the All England Club’s young people programme: ‘Louis was very upset he wasn’t coming today.’

During the conversation, Kate revealed: ‘It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year. They’ve been eagerly watching.
‘Charlotte, you’ve been getting to grips with the scoring.
After their conversation, 16-year-old ballboy Joel revealed that Louis ‘tries to practise the standing and staying serious like us’.
He added: ‘He tries to practise the stands and how we stand at the back of the court and next to the players.’
Prince Louis often manages to steal the show at royal engagements, from sticking his tongue out at his mother tp dramatically covering his ears on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
During the Coronation, the youngster was spotted cheering for his grandfather from the royal carriage, exclaiming: ‘Yaaaay Say king. Yaaaay king,’ lip reading expert Jacqui Press told Femail.
He was also seen excitedly pointing at royal fans and whispering to his sister Charlotte as they departed.
However it’s possible Prince Louis was unable to attend the event at Wimbledon yesterday because, at the age of five, he is too young.

According to Wimbledon’s official website, ‘a ticket is not required for those under five, but children under five are not allowed into the Show Courts (Centre, No.1, No.2, No.3, Court 12 and Court 18’.
But while Louis had to watch from home yesterday, he did enjoy a day out with the whole family on Friday.
The royal joined his parents and siblings on a visit to a military air show in Gloucestershire.
During the engagement, the family-of-five were taken on a tour of the huge C-17 transporter aircraft – which was used to transport the late Queen’s coffin in the days ahead of her funeral last September.
At one point during the tour, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince William paused by a display board to read about the history of the aircraft.
While standing next to his big sister, Prince Louis happily spoke with members of the RAF – but his face dropped when he heard a plane take off in the airfield.
The royal paused for a moment before covering his ears with his hands and letting out a small cry.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest son appeared quite upset by the noise and looked around for his parents.
However, Louis was only bothered for a matter of seconds and quickly turned his attention back to the pictures on the display board.
It wasn’t the first occasion Prince Louis has been bothered by the sound of loud engines – as he grumpily covered his ears at his most recent Trooping the Colour appearance in June.
In May, Prince Louis told a royal fan that he wants to follow in Prince William’s footsteps one day and become a pilot.
