Lil Nas X says coming out was ‘one of the scariest moments’ of his life

Lil Nas X is in love.

The rapper, 22, revealed in a new interview that he believes the unidentified person he is dating is “the one.”

“I’ve had some good boyfriends and some bad ones,” he told Variety of his romantic past in the magazine’s 2021 Power of Young Hollywood Issue, published Wednesday. “A lot of them were emotionally unavailable or had a lot of insecurity and whatnot.”

However, the “Industry Baby” singer said his love life has since improved.

“I’ve found someone special now,” he shared. “I think this is the one. I can’t explain it — it’s just a feeling.”

Although Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, did not divulge who he is dating right now, there has been speculation that he is in a relationship with his backup dancer Yai Ariza since the pair have packed on the PDA in various TV appearances.

In May, Ariza licked Lil Nas X’s neck during a performance of “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” on “Saturday Night Live.”

The Colombian-born dancer proudly shared the moment on his Instagram, writing, “This moment right here 🔥 Yes, It’s me licking @lilnasx Neck 👅😈.”

The duo then broke the internet by becoming the first male entertainers to share a kiss on the lips onstage during Lil Nas X’s performance at the 2021 BET Awards in June.

“Thank you so much @lilnasx & @itsbankhead for make me part of this historic and iconic moment for our community!” Ariza wrote on his Instagram afterward.

Lil Nas X admitted in May that coming out as gay during Pride 2019 — as hit hit song, “Old Town Road,” topped the charts — was one the “scariest moments” of his life.

“I was afraid because I knew the world was watching,” he said, “and all I ever saw for boys like me was judgment and ridicule, but it was because the world was watching, that I knew I had to stand in my truth.”

Reps for Lil Nas X and Ariza did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
