A man who wanted to see what it was like to be pregnant for a day has gone viral on TikTok – after failing to even make it out of bed.

Maitland Hanley, from Brisbane, Australia, who has recently had a baby with his partner, secured a watermelon to his stomach using cling film, before wrapping another two melons to his chest to give the impression of bigger breasts.

In the video, which has since garnered over 1million likes on TikTok, he can be seen lying on the bed ready to start his day as a pregnant woman.

Moments later, a woman in the background can be heard impersonating the sound of an alarm before telling him it’s time to get up to start the day.

Feeling overly confident with his pregnant belly, Maitland says ‘watch this’ as he then proceeds to carry out his first act as a pregnant person.

However, the weight and awkward shape of his new addition instantly makes it a struggle for him to swing his body around to an upright position – and he fails at the first hurdle.

Not wanting to give up, Maitland tries again and this time, manages to get enough force to swing his legs off the bed so his feet touch the floor . However, he still doesn’t have enough strength to get the top half of his body to sit upright.

His failed attempts are met with laughter from a friend watching on from the bedroom door.

It wasn’t long before amused social media users took to the comments section, with one writing: ‘Why is he not using his hands? Pregnancy took his ability to think’ (pictured)

As the video draws to an end, the father admits: ‘I thought it would be so much easier.’

It wasn’t long before amused social media users took to the comments section. But while some were left in hysterics, others commented on the force in which Maitland tries to lift himself up.

‘You have to roll you can’t just fling yourself or you’ll pull a ligament in your side,’ commented one, while a second added: ‘Don’t forget all the ligaments are loose so you just popped a hip.’

A third added: ‘Wish we could fling ourselves like that without pulling a ligament or muscle,’ while a further joked: ‘Why is he not using his hands? Pregnancy took his ability to think.’

Another commented: ‘I have just nearly wet myself laughing.’
