If you’ve finished all your Christmas leftovers and your fridge is looking a bit empty you might be planning a trip to the supermarket to restock.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day is coming up, and even though you won’t be able to host big parties this year, it’s a good idea to keep your fridge stocked up.
Many stores will have reduced opening hours in order to give their staff some much-needed time off.
So it’s important to check the opening hours of your local supermarket, whether it be Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose or M&S.
Here are the supermarket opening hours for the New Year period.
Tesco Extra, Superstores and Metro branches will be open as usual on New Year’s Eve, but will close early at 7pm.
Meanwhile, Express stores will shut slightly early at 10pm.
On January 1, the bigger stores will be open from 9am until 6pm, with Express stores open between 8am and 10pm.

Asda is planning to keep stores open from 7am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve, before reopening between 10am and 5pm on New Year’s Day.
NHS workers, care home workers and carers are offered priority access between 8am and 9am on Mondays Wednesday’s and Fridays.

Most Sainsbury’s will be open from 7am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve.
On New Year’s Day most stores will be open from 9am to 9pm.
However, it’s a good idea to use the Sainsbury’s store checker before heading out.
Aldi will keep stores open between 8am and 6pm on December 31.
However, they will close all stores on January 1.
Aldi says that individual stores may vary, so it’s important to use their store finder.
Lidl plans to keep stores open between 8am and 6pm on New Year’s Eve outside the M25, with shops inside the M25 staying open until 8pm.
But shops will be shut on New Year’s Day, but open between 10am and 7pm inside the M25.

Morrisons will close stores early on New Year’s Eve at 6pm.
Shops will open again between 9am and 6pm on New Year’s Day.
The best thing to do is check the opening hours of your local Morrisons.
Waitrose stores will be open from 8am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve.
But on New Year’s Day the majority of shops will be closed, apart from a small number which will have varying opening hours between 7am and 10pm.
The best thing is to check your local Waitrose branch to double-check when it’s open.
