A Peppa-pig obsessed toddler has had his dreams come true – after his mother bought him a real life pig to be his best pal.

Hannah Constantine, 19, from Leigh, Greater Manchester, couldn’t resist buying the pet after seeing 13-month-old Teddy’s love of Peppa Pig and how much he enjoyed being around animals.

The miniature pig, who is also called Peppa and is comparable in size to a medium-sized dog, was found by Hannah online after she posted a request for pigs that needed to be rehomed.

The early years practitioner said the pair have since become inseparable, revealing they even tune into the cartoon together: ‘It’s been so great, as soon as he sees her, he just starts laughing.’

The toddler and the pig, whom the family have also called Peppa, have become inseperable since Hannah purchased the animal several weeks ago

Hannah said her son has become best friends with the pet, who often snuggles up with him for naps on the sofa

For a number of years, Hannah had considered getting one herself but couldn’t resist after seeing Teddy’s love of Peppa Pig and how much he enjoyed being around animals.

She said: ‘I wouldn’t have got one If I didn’t think Teddy would like it but we were going to petting farms quite a lot and could see he really loves animals.’

She purchased the animal online, and welcomed him home several weeks ago, with the pet quickly become inseparable with Teddy.

Hannah said her son Teddy is a super fan of the cartoon and has watched the show every day since he was eight-months-old

A Peppa Pig super-fan, Teddy has watched the show every day since he was eight-months-old but now watches it with his new friend, who is always found next to him on the sofa while he struggles to hold back his giggles.

Hannah said: ‘ If she grunts or makes a noise he even starts to copy her and then that set him off laughing.

‘She’s his best friend at the minute, especially with lockdown when you’re not supposed to be seeing anyone, so it’s so nice having her around.

‘She’s usually always playing and cuddling with Teddy. He just loves her.’

Hardly a moment goes by where the pair aren’t now together, with either Teddy crawling or Peppa trotting after one another

The sweet toddler even shares his toy with the mischievous micro-pig, as they both love a kids play tunnel which Hannah had specially bought after reading that pigs like to play in them.

Hannah said: ‘She likes playing with his toys, especially ones that rattle or make noises.

‘Teddy has a book that sings ‘Old McDonald had a Farm’ which she presses with her nose to get it started that she really seems to like.’

Teddy and Pippa also enjoy reading books with one another, and snuggle down on the sofa with Hannah for story time

Hannah is planning to get her pet pig fitted with a harness so that the family can go out for walks together

During the daytime when playing gets a bit too tiring the pair can be found napping together on the sofa.

Hannah is already busy training Peppa, who’s believed to be 9-10 months old. she said: ‘It is hard work, she’s like a toddler and is into everything – Emptying the bins and with her nose, she can push the furniture around the room.’

She added: ‘I’m planning on walking her soon, I’m just getting her measured for a harness but it has to be specially made and I’ve been trying to get her to sit but it hasn’t worked too well so far. She does try but hasn’t fully sat down yet.’

Meanwhile Hannah is also training Peppa to sit down but says the process ‘hasn’t worked too well so far’ (pictured, Teddy with Peppa)

She might have quite some time to get Peppa trained – micro pigs typically live for up to 18 years.

The five minute cartoons revolve around Peppa, her family and friends. Other characters in the show, such as her brother George and Daddy pig – have gone on the be just as popular.

The British cartoon, which has had six series, started in 2004 and quickly became a hit with with British children and all over the world.

The show has been such a hit that a theme park, dedicated to Peppa Pig, opened up in 2011 – much to the delight of many small children – and their parents.
