  • Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 51, has launched luxury swimwear collection
  • Naia Beach range includes pieces made of recycled nylon from old fishing nets
  • Tess Daly has been working on the line for the past year with pal Gayle Lawton
  • Star’s favourite bikini in the range, the Hera, is priced at £120

Strictly Come Dancing star Tess Daly has unveiled her luxury swimwear brand Naia Beach – which includes a line made from recycled fishing nets.

The presenter revealed her new line to fans earlier this week on her Instagram, after working on designs during lockdown with her friend and business partner Gayle Lawton.

The swimwear, which Tess says was inspired by a trip to the Maldives, put comfort at the fore, as well as being eco-friendly, with much of the nylon used coming from abandoned fishing nets.

The luxury swimsuits and bikinis don’t come cheap though, retailing at £120 for a one-shoulder bikini and £130 for a one-piece.

Excited fans of the star said they couldn’t wait for their next beach holiday to give the swimsuits a try.

Tess’s website boasts that nearly three quarters of the black swimwear is made from ‘abandoned or spent fishing nets.’ Discarded plastic and textiles have also been used.

Tess, 51 – who is married to I’m a Celebrity star Vernon Kay, 46, says that the planet-friendly part of her range are some of her favourite pieces.

In a post ahead of Tuesday’s launch, the star wrote: ‘Me and my longtime friend Gayle have worked so hard to realise our dream of launching our collection of luxurious beachwear.

‘We’re really proud of the results and hope you love it as much as we do.

The brand hails its Selene one-piece as the swimwear equivalent of the little black dress

‘Our mission at NAIA is for you to feel comfortable, confident and special when wearing our collection and that’s why each piece is designed for an ultra flattering fit.’

Sharing snaps of the Hera two-piece – made from re-purposed fishing nets – Tess added: ‘My favourite bikini.’

Meanwhile, the Naia website hails the Selene one-piece as the swimwear equivalent of the Little Black dress, calling it ‘modern yet timeless’.

The website also offers a range of ‘cover ups’ such as beach dresses and kaftans from £120 to £160 from their Goddess collection, which Tess and Gayle have modelled themselves on Instagram for the launch.

The two women hit it off after meeting at a dinner party ten years ago, and Tess told Hello Magazine it had been like ‘finding a sister.’

Fans and friends of Tess, including her fellow Strictly presenter Claudia Winkleman, encouraged her on social media with emojis and kind words.

ITV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal said: ‘Well done babe,’ while Big Brother star Brian Dowling wrote: ‘Gorgeous so chic.’

Fans said they just need to be able to go on holidays post pandemic to enjoy them.

‘Looks great, just need the world to open up so we can go on beach holidays,’ one said.

Another joked: ‘Wow, looks fabulous, now all I need is to be allowed to find a beach.’
