Fans spot massive issue as legend Wayne Mardle picks his three greatest darts players of all time | The Sun

DARTS legend Wayne Mardle left fans baffled after naming his greatest players of all time.

The five-time world championship semi-finalist, 50, has become one of the voices of the sport since he stopped playing.

And he was quizzed on social media as to who he believes is the best to have ever played the game.

But when pressed for a top three, Mardle bizarrely reeled off four names instead – three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen, 14-time champion Phil Taylor, and two-time winners Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson.

He tweeted: "On pure ability. Not averages. Not world titles. MVG. TAYLOR. LEWIS & ANDO."

In response, one fan said: "That’s 4 Wayno. I thought darts players were good at maths? Oh come on now!"

Another added: "That's some Jose style counting right there but hard to disagree with the choices."

While a third replied: "Three Wayne, three."

And a fourth brutally said: "That's 4 lad, no wonder you didn't win the world title."

Mardle famously produced an iconic piece of commentary during Michael Smith's triumph over Van Gerwen in the 2023 PDC final.
