Friday's horse racing tips: Templegate's NAP and best bets for the live ITV racing at Cheltenham and Doncaster

ASK FOR GLORY (1.50, nap) can kick off the new season at Cheltenham with a win.

Paul Nicholls’ rising star can go to the very top. Here’s my guide to all the telly action.

ASK FOR GLORY was good enough to run in the Champion Bumper and has taken well to hurdles with a 23-length win at Wincanton. There’s more to come.

Finisk River made a couple of novicey mistakes when second at Bangor last month and can outrun his odds.

Global Flame ended last season with an easy win at Wetherby and is respected on comeback, while Does He Know comes from in-form Kim Bailey and won well at Ludlow.

MOSSY FEN was classy over hurdles but has always looked a chasing type. He signed off over timber with fifth in the Ballymore at the Festival and stepping up to 3m will bring out the best in him.

Gordon Elliott’s Galvin sets the standard over fences after taking Grade 3 honours at Tipperary. He likes soft and should get home although his stamina isn’t proven.

Soldier Of Love landed four on the spin over summer and is a threat hiked in grade.

Doctor Duffy fell when fancied for the Munster National last week and is feared.

APLOMB likes this trip and won nicely at Ripon two runs ago. Forget his York effort as he had no chance from a bad draw. Trainer William Haggas is ending the season well.

Tranchee won on his last run here and was a cracking second in that York race. He’s creeping up the weights but will be right there.

King’s Lynn has run well here twice and looks on a fair mark.

CAPTAIN TOM CAT represents last year’s winning jockey and trainer and they they can go close again. He has landed two handy wins at Uttoxeter and this longer trip looks ideal.

Our Power finished last term winning a good handicap at Kempton and is respected despite a 6lb weight rise.

Hijack needed his comeback second at Fontwell and has more to come for Nicky Henderson. Stablemate Fix Sun has had a wind op and is feared too.

OPERA GIFT wears the same silks as great stayer Persian Punch and looks a Cup horse after just three starts. He loved the soft ground when winning at Yarmouth and can step forward.

Ocean Wind was impressive at Newmarket and stays forever. He’s a big threat while Rhythmic Intent looks a good each-way play after a series of solid staying efforts.

ROUGE VIF had a top first season over fences, ending with third in the Arkle. He was impressive when winning the Kingmaker at Warwick and goes well fresh so 227 days off isn’t a worry. There’s more to come from Harry Whittington’s star.

Scardura steps up from winning at Newton Abbot and has potential. Dolos is solid at this level and has had a wind op.

Beat The Judge breezed in at Fontwell and deserves to tackle this stronger company.

On The Slopes progressed last term and has gone well here.
