Child brides were forced to marry their own cousins by twisted Mormon monster

A twisted cult leader oversaw a disturbing sect which saw girls as young as 12 married to their own cousins, raped and told it was a 'pathway to heaven'.

Warped Warren Jeffs brainwashed his female following to believe they were the property of men and married multiple wives – one of whom was his own mother.

Aged just 14, Elissa Wall was forced to marry an older cousin who went on to routinely rape her.

She was one of many girls, some as young as 12, pushed into marrying older men in the polygamous US cult, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints.

The horrifying abuse the underage brides faced in the twisted religious community is laid bare in current Netflix series Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey .

In the second episode, Elissa and her friend Ruby Jessup recalled being taken from their home in Utah to a rundown hotel in Nevada for the ceremonies.

Elissa was "repulsed" by husband Allen Steed, who was her first cousin and didn't understand what was happening when he forced her into sex.

"I told him, 'I don't want you to touch me, I don't want to touch you, I don't wanna sleep in the same bed as you', and I was very vocal with my resistance," she said.

"And then there was this pivotal night where he told me that this was his right and this was my duty, and he proceeded to have sex with me.

"The worst part for me was, I didn't know what was happening to me."

Breaking down in tears, she continued: "These things that hurt and were scary and terrifying, and I didn't know what was going on. I didn't have these words like 'rape' and 'violated'.

"Those weren't even a part of our vocabulary within the FLDS. And so I just cried and asked him to please stop.

"After it was all over and Allen had rolled over and gone to sleep, I pulled myself up out of bed and just went to the bathroom and cried and cried and sat there trying to find God's will in all of it."

The cult was first led by 'prophet' Rulon Jeffs, who had 20 wives and 60 children, before he was succeeded by his son Warren who is now serving a life sentence for child sex offences.

Following Rulon's death, his sicko son married several of his dad's wives – including his own mother.

Members were brainwashed into thinking the perverted leaders were God's representative on Earth.

And only the men who had three or more wives would reach "salvation".

Elissa turned to Warren and revealed she was being routinely raped, expecting him to validate it was wrong.

"Instead, he told me that I needed to go home and submit myself mind, body, and soul to my husband," she said.

"That he was my pathway to heaven."

Unable to work or go the school, the girls had to wear pastel clothes and a particular braid in their hair.

They were regarded by the men as "chattel" and "property." Hundreds of boys – considered "surplus" by the society – were banished and made homeless.
