Emmy Rossum looks unrecognizable as Angelyne in Peacock’s upcoming miniseries under layers of prosthetics, a platinum wig and heavy makeup.
In a new Instagram video, posted by Emmy award-winning makeup artist Mike Mekash on Thursday, the Shameless actress, 35, can be seen sitting patiently as three-pound fake breasts were strapped to her chest.
With some help from a very talented prosthetics team, the Golden Globe winner was the spitting image of the elusive 1980s icon Angelyne.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the star revealed she got ‘blisters from the fake breasts’ and suffered tear duct issues from wearing two pairs of contact lenses.
Before most of her costars even arrived, the mother-of-one revealed she was already in the makeup chair for more than four or five hours.
‘The physicality of the character was challenging. The body is heavy, yet it has to feel light and effervescent,’ she admitted.

Her husband, Sam Esmail, who served as an executive producer on the show, confessed at times ‘did not recognize her because she was lost in this person.’
‘I really mean it,’ he insisted. ‘This is my wife I’m talking about. It’s kind of eerie.’
Last month, the real Angelyne revealed she is refusing to watch the series, starring Rossum, during an interview with Inside Edition as she claims it ‘doesn’t do’ her justice.

‘I had a little glimpse of it and I refused to watch it,’ she revealed.
The limited series is based on a 2017 Hollywood Reporter story that claimed her true identity was Ronia Tamar Goldberg who was born in Poland in 1950 to Holocaust survivors. The actress reportedly went by Renee Goldberg when she was growing up in Los Angeles’ San Fernando valley.
The celebrity denies that she is that person, adamantly asserting, ‘I was born Angelyne.’

The Cold Pursuit actress has described Angelyne as, ‘a trailblazer, a hustler, a visionary, the original influencer, a living-breathing piece of art,’ while adding, ‘It’s as if Marilyn Monroe got into an easy bake oven with a ’80s punk Barbie Doll, and a dose of new age spirituality.’
One of the media personality’s publicity stunts was running for governor of California in the 2003 recall election, winning some 2500 votes, but ultimately losing to Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Angelyne also ran again as part of the 2021 state recall that failed to remove Governor Gavin Newsome from office, but finished with half of a percentage point among those competing as possible replacements.
