Heidi Klum shares throwback swimwear polaroids from 1992 modelling competition after her mother discovers them in the basement
Heidi Klum was feeling nostalgic over the weekend as she shared a slew of throwback snaps from her first modelling competition aged just 19.
The supermodel, 50, revealed her mother Erna discovered a box of old polaroids in the basement of the Klum family home in Germany.
Heidi took to Instagram to show how her modelling career started and why they are important when it comes to her casting decisions in Germany’s Next Top Model.
The catwalk queen looked worlds away from her signature blonde locks as she sported her natural darker hair to show off the high rise patterned swimwear.
Heidi wrote: ‘Similar to how I look at photos and videos of models for GNTM, these photos were my application photos for my model competition in 1992.

Heidi took part in a national modelling contest called Model 92 after a friend persuaded her to enter when she was just 19.
Out of 25,000 contestants, Heidi was voted the winner on 29 April 1992 and she was offered a modeling contract worth $$300,000 by Thomas Zeumer, CEO of Metropolitan Models New York.
After the victory, Heidi appeared on the Gottschalk Late Night Show, a German television show with host Thomas Gottschalk.
The supermodel accepted the contract a few months later after graduating from school.
Heidi decided to pursue a career in modelling rather than try for an apprentice position at a fashion design school.
At 21, Heidi appeared on the cover of Mirabella magazine and within the next few years was featured in Vogue, ELLE, and Marie Claire.
After appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 1998 Swimsuit Issue, she became one of the founding Victoria’s Secret Angels the next year.

She then went on to host German’s Next Top Model and is a judge on America’s Got Talent.
Klum’s 19-year-old daughter Leni made her debut as a model on the cover of Vogue Germany.
Last month Heidi said she is proud of the controversial underwear shoots she did alongside Leni.
Heidi was met fierce backlash following the Intimissimi campaign which saw her posing in lace lingerie alongside her 19-year-old daughter.
She spoke to DailyMail.com on the red carpet for the latest America’s Got Talent auditions to explain she loves how ‘comfortable’ the teen is in her own skin.
Heidi said: ‘It’s been fun to shoot together.
‘To do photoshoots together with her and just to see how she’s just very comfortable and also comfortable around me even when we’re doing underwear shoots or something like that.
‘It makes me proud that my daughter is super comfortable in her skin also in front of me and around me because not every kid is in the world.
‘So, I love that we have this beautiful relationship.’
In addition to Leni, who’s father is 73-year-old billionaire Flavio Briatore, Heidi has 17-year-old Henry, 16-year-old Johan, and 13-year-old Lou with ex Seal.
