Inside the VERY curious Vogue World: Britain’s answer to Met Gala leaves fans bemused with Shakespeare and supermodels, Cara Delevingne kissing FKA Twigs and Victoria Beckham and James Corden hiding at £2,500-a-ticket event (and where DID Kate Moss go?)

The £2,521-a-head Vogue World Show – billed as London’s Met Gala Ball – was branded more ‘fever dream’ than fashion festival today as A-listers including Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss sneaked in and megastar Leonardo DiCaprio tried to avoid being seen.
Slated as a ‘multi-act celebration of the British performing arts’, the glittering one-off extravaganza, which kickstarts London Fashion Week, saw a pregnant Sienna Miller, Rita Ora, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Jodie Turner Smith and Winnie Harlow wow on the red carpet.
But Victoria Beckham slipped in late last night and Leonardo DiCaprio attempted to go incognito, missing the red carpet completely and turning up at an after party in a dark suit, cap and face mask meaning he was barely recognisable.
Kate Moss had arrived for the evening event at 2pm, missed the red carpet and wasn’t seen again until she appeared on screen under what appeared to be a mosquito net before breaking into some interpretive dance. It was not clear if the film was made earlier and she headed home or if she just stayed backstage. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista also arrived early, appeared in the show and slipped away secretly.
It has led to some questioning the A-list credentials of the guest list, which included Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.
There were also bizarre scenes on stage including a surprise appearance by James Corden, which some claimed ‘ruined’ the night at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane where tickets cost up to £2,521 each. Supermodel Cara Delevingne came on dressed as a punk but her outfit was unkindly compared to Dennis the Menace. She then proceeded to kiss singer and dancer FKA twigs, whose boyfriend Jordan Hemingway was watching.
Sienna Miller, James McAvoy and Mr Corden, who has moved back to the UK from California, then tried to trick guests and people watching on YouTube and Instagram that the ‘show was over’ and that everyone ‘had to leave’. Damian Lewis then turned up to help pretending to be an usher, with a bin liner to clear rubbish with them.

James Corden Sienna Miller and James McAvoy took part in a skit where they wore Vivienne Westwood and pretended to be ushers clearing the theatre. Viewers were unimpressed
Kate Winslet was caught on camera looking perplexed while Brian Cox reportedly had a face that suggested he was not convinced by the entertainment
Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford arrive at Theatre Royal Drury Lane but dodged the red carpet
Linda Evangelista also slipped in early and Naomi Campbell was there but not seen at all
One critic tweeted: ‘I had the biggest hopes for Vogue World and they all disappeared in just a few minutes Like why did you got James Corden to do the housework.’ Another said: ‘Who the f**k let James Corden in there?’ while third said simply: ‘James Corden f******g ruined it’ – although others watching defended him to say the show was already bad.
Rap star Stormzy then performed his hit Crown, which includes the line ‘heavy is the head that wears the crown’, from Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part 2. Hotel Rwanda star Sophie Okonedo then appeared on stage to perform part of the tragic play written between 1596 and 1599.
Actor Brian Cox, who played fearsome billionaire patriarch Logan Roy in Succession, had a face that said ‘this is going to be a long night’, as he watched it all unfold, according to the Telegraph, whose Arts and Entertainment Editor Anita Singh said watching it was like being in a ‘fever dream’.
She said: ‘How to describe Vogue World: London, which for one night only was the hottest ticket in the West End? Well, imagine the chaotic energy of a primary school talent contest, but instead of parents in the audience you have Princess Beatrice and Rita Ora’.
She added that the involvement of Stephen Daldry, one of the creative bosses of the London 2012 opening ceremony, had raised high hoped but
But there were some successes. Sienna Miller, 41, who is expecting her second child – her first with boyfriend Oli Green, 26 – stole the show as she pushed maternity style boundaries as she showed off her bump in a Schiaparelli couture crop top and puff ball skirt.
Jodie Turner-Smith put on the most daring display of the night as she rocked up in just a black thong, silk evening gloves and a large black satin bow covering her chest that was seen on Viktor & Rolf’s catwalk earlier this year.
Model Winnie, 29, exuded glamour in a plunging Zuhair Murad black velvet gown with a statement white satin coat which brought plenty of drama with its puffed up neckline, while Rita, 32, turned heads in a Alia black fishtail dress.
The event – dubbed Britain’s answer to the iconic Met Gala – is the brainchild of Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour but viewers, who watched via the YouTube livestream, took to social media to admit they left baffled by the ‘bizarre’ show.
The event was accessible only to the rich and famous with one ticket costing up to £2,521.70. Outside, a queue more than 500ft long filled with clamouring guests snaked its way through London’s West End.

Guests were given ‘treats’ of Estee Lauder lipsticks and invited to indulge in sherbet and liquorice.
Anna arrived alongside British Vogue’s own editor, Edward Enninful after reports of a power struggle between the two.
It comes as Edward Enninful is due to be replaced by Londoner Chioma Nnadi as editor of British Vogue.
The Mail on Sunday reported Enninful had hoped one day to replace Wintour, but the Vogue Editor-In-Chief is determined to stay put and will ‘swat any rivals off like a fly’.
The bash comes just three months after the shock announcement the British-Ghanaian former model and fashion stylist is to step down as editor-in-chief of British Vogue after six years at the helm.
When he leaves at the beginning of 2024, Enninful will take up a ‘global advisory position’ at Vogue, ‘with the freedom to take on broader creative projects’.
‘He made no secret of wanting the big job [global editorial director] but he hit the glass ceiling and he’d gone as far as he could go,’ explained the Vogue insider.
