Kate Hudson, 41, celebrates her eldest son Ryder Robinson’s 17th birthday by sharing photos of him with siblings Bingham and Rani: ‘You’re solid gold’

Kate Hudson is learning that kids grow up fast.

On Thursday the 41-year-old veteran actress took to social media to wish her eldest son Ryder Robinson a happy 17th birthday, as she gushed, ‘you’re solid gold.’

Smothering her Ryder with some motherly love, she shared a video of she and her other two kids Bingham Bellamy, nine, and Rani Fujikawa, two, ambushing the teenager in his room as they sang him happy birthday.

Day of birth: Kate Hudson, 41, wishes her eldest son Ryder Robinson a happy 17th birthday as she and her two kids Bingham Bellamy, nine, and Rani Fujikawa, two shower him with love after barging into his room

Penning a heartfelt caption on Instagram accompanied by a photo of her three kids cuddling, she gushed over her firstborn.

‘Happy Birthday @mr.ryderrobinson 17 today! A family morning celebration for our big man. My loving, warm hearted, hilarious, considerate, unruffled, loyal, resilient son…you got this.’

‘You’re gonna have one wonderful adulthood if you stay this course cause you’re solid gold. Here we are, in the 18th year of your life and I got one more year to help you brush those wings so they’re ready to take off. I’m gonna soak in every moment! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!’

Her only son with partner of seven years, Black Crowes frontman, Chris Robinson, Hudson marveled at the young man Ryder has become.

Thing for musicians: The Almost Famous actress and The Black Crowes frontman were linked from 2000-2007 and she has since had children with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy and current partner of four years Danny Fujikawa

In the video posted by Hudson, the Almost Famous actress and Bingham and Rani crept up the stairs to surprise him with the birthday song.

Rani adorably questioned, ‘is this happy birthday?’ to which Kate responded, ‘it’s happy birthday to Ryder he’s 17,’ as she told her kids to knock on the door.

Rani knocked on the door, and Ryder could be heard saying ‘hey Rani,’ before quipping in typical teenage fashion, ‘What do you want?’

Looking a bit embarrassed at the birthday ambush, the shirtless teen retreated to his bed before they all had a cuddle puddle on the bed.

Naomi Campbell commented on the post with a slew of red hearts and longtime Hudson pal Liv Tyler wrote, ‘Ohhhhhh shpoops!!!! Happy happy birthday sweet Ryder!!! Love you so much.’

On New Year’s Eve she anticipated his birthday as she got a bit sentimental looking back on her time as his mother.

‘This young man made me a mother my entire adult life and I wouldn’t change it for the world… in 5 days he’ll be 17 years old. WTF?! I’ll save the mama gushing for the 7th. Love my baby,’ she wrote.

Since splitting from Robinson in 2007 Hudson moved on with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, and they welcomed Bingham in 2011.

The pair called off their engagement in 2014, and she moved on to find love with actor-musician Danny Fujikawa, 34, in 2016, welcoming their daughter Rani in 2018.

Hudson and Fujikawa had known each other for over a decade as his step sisters are  David Foster’s daughters Sara and Erin who are two of Kate’s best friends.

She actually met him for the first time when she was pregnant with Ryder, but things only turned romantic when he asked her on a hike which unexpectedly turned into a first date.

‘It’s the first time I feel like I have a real teammate in this,’ she told Women’s Health in 2019.

Referencing her famous mom Goldie Hawn’s advice in April as they graced the cover of People, she said:

‘Mom always said to me, “Don’t you ever let a man dim your light”. So I’ve never defined myself through the way a man sees me, but I can define myself in the unit that we can create together.’
