Global megastar Madonna reportedly banned family and friends from discussing anything work-related while they were at her bedside in hospital, otherwise she would “lose her s***”.
The queen of pop, 64, was hospitalised on Saturday and incubated overnight after she was found unconscious after suffering from a “serious bacterial infection”, according to her manager Guy Oseary.
DaughterLourdes Leon , 26, along with Madonna’s close friends and family rushed to the ICU to be with her and were strictly warned against discussing Madonna’s Celebration tour. For the moment, Madonna is out of the ICU and seems to be recovering normally.
The family source revealed: “Everything, including this tour, is taking a backseat right now and no one is allowed to even mention anything work related around her because she will lose her s***", The Mirror reported.
"She will put her career and her fame before her health until the day she is dead."
Madonna's manager Guy shared at the time: “Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.”
Fans were quick to leave comments on Guy’s post with well wishes like “Wishing her a speedy recovery!” and “Praying for a complete recovery!”.
The mother-of-six was due to kick off her gruelling 84-date world tour in July, which she’s been rehearsing for since April.
This isn’t the first time Madonna has been hospitalised. Just three years ago, she had to call off a series of performances due to a severe on-stage fall, which led to her requiring knee surgery.
Madonna is well-known for putting herself under immense pressure to keep herself in shape and youthful as she’s gotten older. She’s a fan of ‘punishing’ fitness routines, which see her working out six times a week to maintain her svelte physique with a mix of yoga, weight lifting and dancing.
It’s thought that this might have contributed to her recent incident, with a source reporting to the DailyMail: “She has not been living as healthy a life as she should be for her age, and she has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months.”
The source also shared that she’s training so hard because she wants this show to be her best yet. They revealed that this "may be her last tour" so Madonna wanted to make it "perfect".
