Barack and Michelle Obama paid tribute to their daughter Malia on Tuesday in celebration of her milestone 25th birthday.

The former president and first lady, who were recently spotted enjoying a family vacation in Greece, both took to Instagram on the Fourth of July to share throwback photos of their oldest child in honor of her big day.

Barack, 61, posted a heartwarming snapshot of himself hugging a teenage Malia in the Oval Office. She was dressed casually in jeans and had a smile on her face as she embraced her dad.

‘Happy birthday to this talented, hilarious, and beautiful young woman. Malia, I hope 25 brings you everything you’re looking for and more,’ the proud father wrote.

Michelle Obama, 59, also honored their daughter on her big day, posting a snapshot of herself with her oldest child when she was a toddler

The former first lady shared how she is ‘so lucky’ to be Malia’s mother and be able to watch her become a ‘wonderful young woman’

Meanwhile, Michelle, 59, opted for an older photo of herself holding Malia when she was a toddler. They were both wearing white, and her daughter’s stuffed animal giraffe was propped up behind her.

‘Happy birthday, Malia! I feel so lucky to be your mom and to be able to watch you become the wonderful young woman you are today. Love you so much!’ she captioned the image.

The couple also shared a photo of themselves watching fireworks, writing, ‘From our family to yours, we hope you have a happy Fourth of July!’

Malia and her younger sister, Sasha, 22, share an apartment in Los Angeles together, but they recently united with their parents during a family trip to Greece.

They traveled to Athens for the Obama Foundation’s week-long leadership event, but they also made time for sightseeing and meeting up with old friends.

The family was spotted having lunch with Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita, Wilson, at a waterfront restaurant on the island of Sifnos.

The Hollywood couple became Greek citizens in 2020, and they are believed to have a villa on the island of Antiparos, which is not far from Sifnos.

It’s unclear if the family is spending Malia’s birthday and the Fourth of July holiday together.

Malia (pictured in 2022) is a screenwriter and recently worked on Donald Glover’s Prime Video show, Swarm, a satirical thriller about a woman who has a dark obsession with a pop star

Malia moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a screenwriter after graduating from Harvard University in 2021.

Sasha later followed in her big sister’s footsteps when she transferred to the University of Southern California from the University of Michigan. She graduated with a degree in sociology in May.

Malia already has a writing credit to her name after scoring a lucrative position working on Donald Glover’s Prime Video show, Swarm, a satirical thriller about a woman who has a dark obsession with a pop star.

The Ivy League grad previously worked as an intern on Lena Dunham’s HBO series Girls in 2015 and at The Weinstein Company in 2017.

She also served as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama series, Extant, before making it into the writer’s room.

Glover, who is also known by his stage name Childish Gambino, confirmed in March 2022 that he gave the former first daughter her first job writing for the series.

‘She’s just like, an amazingly talented person,’ he told Vanity Fair of Malia. ‘She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.’

Barack recently revealed during a sit-down with comedian Hasan Minhaj that he had watched Swarm in support of his daughter.

‘I watched it because, A) I was a big fan of Atlanta,’ he said, referring to Glover’s FX show. ‘And I watched it because my daughter worked on it. So, of course, I’ve got to watch it.’

Minah then asked if he had watched the pilot, alluding to a scene in which Dre (Dominique Fishback) watches Marissa (Chloe Bailey) and Khalid (Damon Idris) have sex through the crack of an open door.

‘Look, if what you are suggesting is that there are aspects of that show that I found a little disturbing…’ the former president replied. ‘But that’s the nature of art these days, and at [this] moment, and that’s OK.’
