Feuding Dimitri van den Bergh and Huybrechts speak out after blanking each other

Feuding teammates Dimitri van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts have spoken out after ignoring each other at the World Cup of Darts.

The Belgians beat Finland 4-0 in a straightforward victory on the opening night of action in Frankfurt.

Yet there was obvious tension between the victorious duo as they couldn’t even bring themselves to look at each other, let alone shake hands after the match as other teammates would have done.

Van den Bergh danced around on stage in his usual fashion while Huybrechts scurried away, resulting in their fractured relationship becoming a huge talking point on social media.

But Belgium’s top two talents have now sought to present a united front by releasing a joint statement.

It read: “Following last night's win at the My Diesel Claim World Cup of Darts, we have sat down to discuss our recent differences.

“Whilst some issues remain to be resolved in the fullness of time, we are both fully committed to doing our best as a team to win the World Cup of Darts for Belgium, and to represent ourselves, our families and our country in the best light.

“That begins with tonight's game against China, and our focus is now on preparing for that match as a team."

Dutch player and pundit Vincent van der Voort shed light on the duo’s feud, tracing it back to when Van den Burgh filed a complaint related to Huybrechts to the PDC.

He said during Viaplay’s coverage of the tournament: “It's been a while that they have had problems with each other.

"It started with an interview Kim had given which Dimitri was angry about. And after that, a number of past problems were brought up."

Van der Voort went on to explain that the pair were no longer on speaking terms, which he claimed could disrupt them as the tournament goes on.
