Inside Snow Patrol’s split as Johnny McDaid ‘is branded a “snake” by ex-bandmate Jonny Quinn’s wife’ amid claims of ‘bad blood’ with the rocker
Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid has reportedly been branded a ‘snake’ by his former bandmate Jonny Quinn’s wife amid claims of ‘bad blood’ with the star.
The band’s frontrunner Gary Lightbody said he was ‘heartbroken’ to announced that drummer Jonny and bassist Paul Wilson had quit the band last week.
He confirmed at the time that Snow Patrol would continue as a trio with himself, Johnny and Nathan Connolly.
But days after the amicable statement, it appears that there is tension within the group as Jonny’s wife Mariane has allegedly branded singer Johnny a ‘snake’.
There have also been claims of ‘bad blood’ with Johnny, with a source claiming that this led to departing members Jonny and Paul’s exit from the band.

Jonny’s wife Mariane reportedly took aim at Johnny in a statement shared to social media, where she claimed the singer is a ‘snake’.
She took to Instagram to insist that Jonny’s relationship with Gary and Nathan was still good, but added of Johnny: ‘The last f***er is a snake though,’ according to The Sun.
She also reportedly went on to share a lengthy statement about Jonny and Paul’s departure, but failed to mention Johnny in the message.
The statement allegedly read: ‘I’m so incredibly proud of my husband and it’s with very mixed feelings Jonny is announcing his departure from the band.
‘So many amazing times, so many incredible people and experiences. I couldn’t have dreamt it.
‘Sad the reason for leaving is not the best, but excited about what lies ahead.
‘I wish Gary and Nathan all the best in moving forward, hopefully you can keep it together.’
It has also been claimed that there is ‘bad blood’ with Johnny, which led to Jonny and Paul deciding they no longer wanted to work with the singer.

A source told The Sun: ‘It became totally untenable for them to stay together. There is a bit of bad blood with Johnny as far as some of the band are concerned.’
MailOnline has contacted Snow Patrol, Johnny and Paul’s representatives for comment.
It comes after Gary announced that Jonny and Paul had departed Snow Patrol as he wished them well on their future endeavours.
He wrote: ‘Hi everyone, Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news but both Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson have decided to leave Snow Patrol.
‘We are heartbroken they have decided to leave us but we wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in all their future endeavours.’
‘This first post is purely to let you all know what’s happening. The next two posts will be dedicated to Jonny and Pablo separately as they deserve to each have a proper and individual send-off.’
‘Nate, JMD and myself will continue with SP and there will be a new album next year but more news of that will come at an appropriate time.
‘For now, we want to pay homage and give gratitude for all Jonny and Pablo have given us and shared with us these past decades.
‘Love to Jonny and Pabs, and love to you all. Please see the next two posts. GL.x’.

One wrote: ‘So gutted about the news from Snow Patrol, the only band I have truly been a fan of…but having left a few bands myself, I totally get it. Wishing both Jonny and Paul the best for their future adventures. Now if only I could play the drums or bass……’
Another fan typed: ‘Can’t believe Jonny & Pabs quit’ and ‘Absolutely gutted to see JQ & Pabs leaving @snowpatrol. Thank you both for the memories – the band will not be the same without you and we’ll continue to support you wherever you end up!! Massive love to @garysnowpatrol, Nate & JMD. x’

A few years ago, Gary admitted he fears he’ll develop dementia as he forgets the lyrics to his songs while performing on stage.
In a new interview, the musician detailed his father Jack’s battle with the ‘horrible’ disease and revealed he practises memory exercises to reduce his own risk.
The multi-instrumentalist shared: ‘My dad has dementia and I’ve always had memory problems. That’s been a lifetime problem. I’m sure that it will run to me and that’s why I’m trying to get on top of it in my forties, rather than leave it any later.’
The media personality told The Sun: ‘Hopefully I’ve got a few years yet before that affects me. Memory is close to my heart and on my mind. I’ve been trying to do memory exercises. I hope at some point that will connect tissue when I’m on stage. Something disconnects me from the lyrics when I’m there.’
His father – who lives with his wife Linda in Northern Ireland – was diagnosed with the disease back in 2015, he died in December 2019.
