THE GREEN GUIDE: How sustainable is your bathroom cabinet?

THE GREEN GUIDE: How sustainable is your bathroom cabinet? Alice Robertson challenges beauty’s eco credentials

WHAT’S THE STORY?

Founded in London in 2019, Wild’s mission is to remove single-use plastics from the bathroom – last year sales hit £26.2 million.

WHY SHOULD I BUY?

The refill bottle, moulded using a carbon-efficient heating process, is made from bamboo, discarded chopsticks and potato peelings – and is gone in under two years. Faster than a banana peel! No microplastics either. The aluminium case should last a lifetime: it won’t tarnish or rust, and comes in two colours. The wash is made from 95 per cent natural ingredients and available in three scents.

WHY SHOULDN’T I BUY?

The refill is made in Taiwan, the case in China, but both are transported by sea. The body wash is made in the UK. The pump is not recyclable, but is designed to last.
